The crucial importance of sunlight
This is part 1 of 2 on a series about the importance of sunlight.
Look down at your right hand for me.
Scientifically speaking, enormous electromagnetic pressures in and around the sun formed the atoms, molecules and skin cells that you’re seeing right now.
Aka, the raw materials of your hand technically have the sun to thank for their existence.
Actually, all of Earth has the sun to thank for its existence. Without the constant influx of electromagnetic energy blooming from the center of our solar system, our planet would be unable to host carbon-based life forms. Period.
Unfortunately, though the sun is responsible for all of the food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe, our society is basically convinced that we should avoid it.
We stay inside most days, wear sunglasses when we step outside, and plaster ourselves with cancer-causing chemicals that leach directly into our bloodstream. All just to get away from the sun’s “deadly rays”.
Meanwhile, hundreds of millions of Americans are sicker, unhappier, and more vitamin D deficient than ever before.
In the near future, scientists will discover numerous benefits that arise from direct contact with sunlight on our skin and in our eyes, including the fact that humans perform a type of photosynthesis to increase production of various enzymes, minerals, vitamins and other nutrients to revitalize our body systems.
I’ll have more to say about sunlight next week.
{Mind}
Why does my mind get crazier when I meditate?
Actually, your mind is always this crazy. It only seems to get crazier while meditating because you are finally taking a sober look at it.
It’s like talking to a friend during a loud concert: only after the interaction do you realize there’s been brutally loud music happening in the background — you were so distracted by the conversation that you forgot about it!
Same thing with meditation. The moment you unplug from stimuli the full force of your untrained, deranged mind goes on display.
Luckily, this insanity is by no means permanent.
Indeed, like a snow globe, your mind gets shaken up by worldly activities and naturally begins to settle the moment you stop participating. Yes, the snowflakes/thoughts still rain down for a time, but they will eventually come to rest at the bottom, so long as you are patient and don’t stir anything new up.
{Soul}
Sometimes the fastest way to get to your destination is actually through a dense jungle filled with sharp thorns and venomous snakes.
Indeed, often it’s only way to get to your destination.
That’s not to say that the trail isn’t worth blazing, though. If you knew with certainty that your desires were on the other side of this temporary journey, and that God were walking beside you during the entire trek, I am confident you would still choose to sacrifice your comfort for them.
Remember: in the material world, effects come after their causes, not before. You shall have your peace and joy and fulfillment once you’ve properly battled and slayed your demons, not a moment sooner.
